BMW F650GS - Pillion Review

One should know that I am more accustomed to sports bikes and naked bikes, therefore the change from such bikes to and dual sport bike is huge! But lets start with the pillion review of the BMW :)

  • One very positive thing about this bike is that the seat and the foot pegs are simply amazing and comfortable. The foot pegs are quite big therefore your foot is set in a good way even to get on the bike itself, it does not hurt your foot since it has more surface. The seat is the most comfortable from all the bikes I have experienced. Plus the suspension on the bike is great, you do not feel the bump of any pothole or a sleeping policeman.

  • The riding position is very upright, thus it is like you are sitting on a sofa which is very nice compared to all those other bikes. No need to lean forward to avoid excessive wind.

  • If you’re planning to get this bike and having a pillion riding regularly with you, then you have to make sure to invest in a heat protection wrap for the exhaust. I mean the actual exhaust comes with a heat protector but where the pillion puts his/her foot there is nothing and end up burning his/her leg

  • As for space between the rider and the pillion.... well comparing it to previous bikes there is not that much, although there is still enough room (that is excluding the GD250). Pillion has to be careful not to headbutt the rider when changing gear or during a sudden stop. We have an LS2 pioneer helmet (Enduro type) and honestly I am headbutting my husband too frequent. But it is not something that cannot be solved, just need to make sure you are not looking straight ahead but a bit at an angle.

  • The pillion grab rails are nice to have on the side but although I am relatively small I find them quite narrow and close to me.

Like any other bike, as we can see it has its pros and cons, but all in all taking everything into consideration, it is a lovely bike aesthetically and very good to have as a daily (if you still want a big bike).
